I started the trial drug, Trametinib, on November 24, 2016 (Thanksgiving). I took Trametinib in pill form. Very simple, just take the pill on an empty stomach every morning. Between November 3 and November 24, the mild discomfort that I had in early November increased. I was quite uncomfortable on Thanksgiving due to the enlarged mass that we were now watching (based on 11/3 scan). Within 3 days of starting Trametinib I felt significantly better. Today I feel great, with no pain.
I had another scan on January 11, 2017. With the trial, I get a scan every 8 weeks. We requested that this scan be pushed up a bit as my tumor marker has continued to rise since September 2016. We discussed the results of this scan with my doctor today. The lymph node under my left arm has shrunk, another area is stable, but the newer area of concern has progressed. With all of this being said, I was taken off of the trial today. I am very bummed about this. I am not ready to be taken off of Trametinib. I do believe it was working in some areas for me. My chest lesions look so much better and my left arm lymph node has decreased in size for instance. But with my tumor marker continuing to go up and the progression of the newer mass, the trial coordinator said I had to exit.
Today, we discussed next step options with Dr. Fader. Lots going on. Starting with biopsies next Tuesday, January 24. Please continue to pray for me. Thank you for all of the support. – Stef
