Last Thursday I had my first dose of Paclitaxel (a.k.a. Taxel). When we first arrived for my appointment, the nurse showed me around the center. Once I got settled in a pod, the chemo nurse introduced herself and explained to me the premeds that I would receive. As I proceeded to explain to her my experience with steroids and Benadryl, she started to administer the Benadryl. I was very talkative as I had taken steroids over the past 12 hours to prep for chemo. I was talking and taking notes in my phone and all of a sudden I felt funky and could barely type and really had to focus to talk. The Benedryl was kicking in! I feel asleep. Now that I think about it, I don’t even remember the chemo bag being hung! Overall, chemo went fine. The tougher part was the days to come, but not really, but then yes.

From the hospital we headed to Gettysburg for Owen’s soccer tournament, which had been planned for some time. We camped. I handled it very well, up until the final minutes of the last game (Sunday). From then through the next 36 hours I had it rough with nausea. Today, I am on my way to being back to normal.

Chemo again this Thursday. – Stef
